Every year, 34 million Americans, including nine million children, are faced with the unsettling reality of not knowing where their next meal is coming from. Roughly 35 percent of food in the United States goes unsold or uneaten. If even half of that food were to be recovered, we could feed every hungry person in the United States, three meals a day – everyday.
With such a need, it brings NEI great pleasure to support initiatives like Move for Hunger – a fantastic organization that impacts the food crisis by helping relocating families repurpose non-perishable food items through their household goods movers to local pantries.
In 2022, NEI service partners participating in Move for Hunger were able to feed 212,614 people! This year, in conjunction with Move for Hunger, we have the honor of presenting an award to the service partner that contributed the most to that total.
We congratulate Budd Van Lines on winning our first Move for Hunger Supplier of the Year award for contributing 34,473 meals – about 16 percent of the total! Every meal counts and brings us closer to solving hunger in a big way!
