Ireland's Property Market/Governing Legislation

Published: Apr 17, 2017

Ireland’s suitable rental availability continues to decrease dramatically and, concurrently, there’s been a significant rise in monthly rental costs. In response, the government introduced new measures to help stabilize the market and increase housing available to rent/buy in 2017-2020.

This could result in more private landlords offering properties to the highest bidders, as the government works to manage unregulated bookings. To avoid this issue, some clients choose to book/pay for housing well in advance.

Delays processing Employment Permits remain, as do delays obtaining Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) Registration appointments in County Dublin. Processing for Standard Employment Permit applications can take ten weeks and should be considered when proposing start dates.
